Sferracavallo is the Northern fishing village of Palermo, the place where I grew up and that is currently included in a Marine Reserve. I know the history, the characters, the plants and the sea of this place. Everybody knows me here as the grandson of Zù Giovanni called Cacaniru, and it was just my grandfather who taught me what I know.

In a route which runs from the past to the present, I will take you to the caves that became houses during the war, I will show you the places of vacation of the beginning of the century. I will point out the peculiarities of the sidewalks and of the trees of Tamericia. I will tell you about the famous procession of Cosma and Damiano and you will meet Simone Aiello who will tell us about the fishing techniques and his commitment to the prevention of a degradation of the village. We will arrive then at Punta Barcarello, where I will tell you what my grandfather taught me about the sea and life.

  • Meetings with residents, members of associations: Simone Aiello, Committee "Il Mare di Sferracavallo", "Associazione Pescatori SS. Cosma e Damiano" according to their availability.
